To Save A Life (Movie)….September 10

Soul Rio will offer a free movie night to the community Friday. When: September 7, 2010. Time: 7 p.m. Where: Soul Rio Community Church. At some point teen has to decide: What’s my life going to be about? To Save A Life is a movie that dares to bring that question into the world, encouraging them to answer it with boldness, honesty and compassion. This event is available to all of our community, however, the film is rated PG-13 because it deals directly with some difficult but authentic aspects of todays teen life. As such, it is recommended for students entering 8th grade and older. For more information or questions, contact Floyd or the office. The Office Number is 792-8737.

Sunday Funday August 22

On Sunday, August 22 from 12 noon to 4:30 p.m. Rio Rancho Parks and Recreation will host the Mayor’s Picnic and Sundae is Funday at Loma Colorado Park located at 555 Loma Colorado Drive (adjacent to Rio Rancho High School and the new Aquatic Center). In addition to a car show, ice cream social and salsa contest, there Soul Rio will have a vendor booth. If you would like to help staff the booth or help in any way, please contact Lisa Fuller at 249-1669 or Pam at the office. We need as many people as we can to help out with this event!

Fire at Best Lee’s

Some of you may have driven by on Monday evening and seen multiple fire and rescue vehicles at Southern Plaza. Best Lee’s restaurant, next door to SoulRio, suffered a fire that evening. No one was hurt in the fire, although Best Lee’s will be closed during the month of August for repairs. A minimal amount of water seeped under the wall between their suite and ours, but we wanted to reassure you that there was no damage to SoulRio. Please pray for the owners and staff of Best Lee’s during this difficult time.

Mark your calendars for September 24-26 and plan to attend our annual fall family retreat at beautiful Glorieta Conference Center. Registration is a 2-part process:
Step 1: Contact Glolrieta at 800.797.4222 to reserve your room. Rooms are $79 per night for a deluxe with 2 queen beds. Deposit of one night’s rental is required.
Step 2: Fill out your Soul Rio Registration including attendees and extra activities desired.

Lives Ablaze September 5-6

Students in grades 6-12 are invited to take advantage of an incredible weekend this Labor Day at Glorieta for the annual Lives Ablaze Student Conference. John Evans is the featured evangelist. Worship will be led by Addison Road and the Skit Guys will be there. Cost is $64 per person and includes conference, lodging and meals. Sign up NOW!. Deposit of $34 is due now. Balance of $30 is due by August 15.

UNDERGROUND to meet SATURDAY AT 5 P.M. THIS WEEK!

Just a reminder that this week only we will meet SATURDAY night at 5 p.m. at the church for UNDERGROUND. Bring a little cash and after the games we’ll head over to Dairy Queen for ice cream. Invite your friends…we have lots of great things to share, including Lives Ablaze, the Retreat and a free movie opportunity coming up right after school starts.

Welcome Back Carl and Laura Potluck!

As most of you know, Carl and Laura Anderson have come back home to SoulRio. We’re SO glad to have them here! In celebration of this, we’ll be having a potluck celebration party following 2^nd service this Sunday, July 18. Please bring a main dish and a side or dessert to share. We will have paper goods and drinks. We’re so glad that God has allowed them to come home to us and want to celebrate what He’s doing in their lives! See you there!

Baptism & BBQ July 25

Make plans now to attend our annual baptism and BBQ on July 25 at Haynes Park and Pool. We’ll begin the celebration with a cookout at the park at 5 p.m. and move over to the pool for our baptism.
