| WUSHU KUNG-FU LEADERSHIP | ||
Joe
Simons Jr., a Founder and Leader of Soul Rio Church, has many years
of martial arts & ministry experience. Mr. Simons’ Kung-fu
training includes 2 years of study, 1 year as a black belt assistant
instructor and 3 years as a black belt instructor at the National
Martial Arts Academy.
Mr. Simons created this Kung-fu Ministry in 2000 and has led its instruction and community outreach as a volunteer servant ever since. Some of the ministry’s founding students have progressed to advanced belts and now serve other students as Assistant Instructors. No instructors or leaders in this ministry receive salaries for sharing their time & talents. The ministry offers Wushu Kung-fu instruction to kids and adults in 6 age/skill appropriate classes, who represent various types of church and non-church backgrounds. Students address their Instructor as "Mr. Simons", and all assistant instructors likewise. This formal address encourages students to give respect to all teachers, mentors and parents. Mrs. Simons (Bonnie) supports ministry/class administration as its coordinator.
